ABOUT CIRCLE H BASSET HOUNDS

Welcome to Circle H Basset Hounds!

My name is Stevy Hill, and I’m so glad you’re here and interested in our basset hounds.

My husband, Brett, and I, along with our three kids—Jaxon, Cade, and Sophie—raise our dogs on our cattle ranch in the country. Our days are filled with cattle, basset hounds, a few porch cats who have opted out of barn life, and one very sweet old chocolate lab. Bassets have always been part of my life—I grew up with them, raised my children alongside them, and now we love sharing the joy they bring with our Circle H families.

Our dogs are born and raised in a warm, loving home environment and are handled daily as part of everyday life. They are well socialized, accustomed to the normal sounds and rhythm of a busy household, and deeply loved. Raising healthy, happy puppies is our top priority. All of our dogs are AKC registered and genetically tested prior to breeding, and our puppies are placed with a health guarantee.

We believe clear expectations create the best experiences. Our policies exist to protect our dogs and to ensure each puppy is placed in a home that is prepared, informed, and fully committed. We value honesty, communication, and mutual respect, and we reserve the right to make decisions in the best interest of our dogs and our program.

Families will receive weekly updates  as puppies grow and reach a new week of age, along with photos and videos so you can follow their journey. These weekly updates are part of the connection we value with our Circle H families.

Below, you’ll find our policies outlined clearly so expectations are understood from the start.

Placing our puppies & rights that go along with them. â€‹

Our primary goal is to place our puppies in loving, lifelong pet homes. On occasion, we may grant breeding rights to breeders whose programs align with the same standards of care, responsibility, and ethics that we uphold at Circle H. We do not sell puppies to pet stores, puppy brokers, or puppy mills—no exceptions.

Families interested in AKC full registration must submit an application and provide an introduction to themselves and their kennel. Full registration is offered at our discretion and is priced at an additional $2,000 over the pet price..

Puppies placed in pet homes are sold with AKC limited registration and are not permitted to be bred or shown. A spay and neuter clause is included in our puppy home contract.

Adoption Process

Our adoption process is clear and straightforward. To be considered for a puppy, a completed puppy application and a $500 non-refundable deposit are required. The deposit secures your spot and is applied toward the total price of your puppy—it is not an additional fee.

Before submitting an application or placing a deposit, please ensure that everyone in your household is fully on board with adding a puppy. Applications should not be submitted with the intention of “discussing it later” or holding a spot while a decision is being made. We ask that families be ready to move forward with the deposit when applying so time is respected on both sides.

We are always happy to answer questions before an application is submitted so families can feel confident and informed before moving forward.

Deposits are non-refundable for any reason. Deposits are transferable one time to a different litter within one year of the date they are placed. If you select a puppy and later change your mind, the deposit is forfeited—no exceptions.

Puppies listed on our Available Puppies page may be reserved immediately. Upcoming litters and waiting lists can be viewed on our Upcoming Litters page.

Waiting list families will make their puppy selections when puppies reach four weeks of age. When it is your turn to pick, please be prepared to make your selection. If there is not a puppy you feel is the right fit, you may pass to a future litter, subject to the transfer policy outlined above.

Families will receive a text announcement of the litter’s arrival along with a group photo within the first week. Beginning at two weeks of age, individual puppy photos will be sent weekly. Puppy selections take place at four weeks, and weekly photo updates will continue as puppies grow.

All puppy selections are made through photos and videos. For the health and safety of our puppies and adult dogs, in-person visits and picking are not permitted. Young, unvaccinated puppies are especially vulnerable, and our dogs’ health always comes first. Our policies are in place to protect them and are not negotiable.

Deposit & Final Payment Methods

Deposits may be paid via Venmo, Apple Pay, or by credit or debit card through an emailed invoice. No other payment methods are accepted for deposits. If you require a receipt, please request an emailed invoice at the time of payment.

The remaining balance is due at pickup or delivery. Final payment may be made in cash (preferred) at pickup or delivery, or by credit or debit card no later than 48 hours prior to pickup. Card payments are subject to a 4% processing fee. Venmo and Apple Pay is not accepted for final payment.

Afterpay is available for final payment for families who prefer to make payments. This option is provided through an emailed invoice and is subject to approval by Afterpay, which is outside of our control. A 6% processing fee applies when using Afterpay

Parvo Safety & Early Puppy Care

Young puppies are especially vulnerable to Parvo and other diseases until three weeks after their full puppy vaccination series is complete. Your puppy will receive their first vaccination with Circle H Basset Hounds and must continue vaccinations every three weeks with your veterinarian as directed.

During this vulnerable period, it is strongly recommended that puppies not be taken to public places, pet stores, dog parks, shared yards, or any areas frequented by unknown animals. Puppies should only be allowed in their own private yard during this time.

If you are traveling home with your puppy, it is recommended that your puppy be taken directly home. Overnight stays in hotels or other public lodging are strongly discouraged. Puppies should not be placed on the ground for restroom breaks while traveling and should use puppy pads only. The safest method is placing puppy pads inside a small crate and allowing the puppy to use the pads during travel.

Parvo can live in the ground for years and can be unknowingly tracked into the home on shoes. For this reason, we strongly recommend a no-shoes policy in the home during this vulnerable period.

Failure to follow these Parvo safety recommendations may result in illness and will void the health guarantee. Circle H Basset Hounds is not responsible for illness or exposure resulting from a puppy being placed in public or shared areas after families have been clearly informed of these guidelines.

These precautions are outlined in detail and formally acknowledged in our puppy application and contract. Please read carefully and be sure you are able to follow them before submitting an application.

Puppy Care & Going Home Information

All Circle H puppies are dewormed every two weeks beginning at two weeks of age. They are vet checked, receive age-appropriate vaccinations administered by our veterinarian, and are thoroughly examined prior to going home. Each puppy leaves with a health examination record, an official health certificate, and a fecal test.

Should any concern arise prior to placement, families will be notified promptly. Decisions will be made thoughtfully, with the puppy’s best interest and the family’s situation both taken into consideration.

All puppies are microchipped and go home with 30 days of complimentary Trupanion insurance, a small scented blanket with their littermates’ and mother’s scent, toys, and additional go-home items.

Puppies placed in pet homes leave with AKC limited registration and a Puppy Home contract. Puppies placed with full registration will leave with full AKC paperwork.

All puppies born at Circle H are family for life. If your circumstances ever change and you are unable to keep your dog, they are always welcome back here at any age. No refunds will be given. We ask that you contact us directly and do not place your dog in a shelter.

Pickup, Travel & Delivery

Puppies are ready to go home at 8 weeks of age. The listed pickup date is the first day puppies are eligible to leave. If flying I prefer them to be 9 weeks if possible.  If that date falls during the week, pickup the following weekend is acceptable, as well as up to one week past the listed date. We do our best to accommodate schedules and ask that families be respectful of our time as well. Puppies held longer than one week past the pickup date will be subject to a boarding fee.

We offer several options for getting your puppy home. Families are welcome to pick up at our location, or we are happy to meet along common routes such as I-40 near Shawnee, Oklahoma City, or Tulsa. Other meeting locations may be possible depending on your route.

We offer complimentary airport pickup at both Oklahoma City and Tulsa airports. Puppies are never shipped cargo under any circumstances. We are not responsible for travel expenses. Flights should be refundable or transferable in case a puppy needs to stay longer or a personal emergency arises. Non-refundable travel arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer.

We primarily place puppies within the United States and Canada. Canadian families are welcome; however, puppies must be driven across the border. We do not allow puppies to fly cargo into Canada. We do not place puppies outside of the U.S. and Canada due to international restrictions.

We offer one complimentary delivery date per litter to the Dallas area if you can fly in on that date we will meet you at either DFW or Love airports. Delivery to Wichita, KS, Fort Smith, AR, and Joplin, MO is available for $150. Other locations may be discussed.
